15 [Similar Anime] Like Babylon

A villain with twisted mind and questionable philosophy, who can manipulate others into actions they might have never commited otherwise. A man on the quest to punish the villain. Both shows question human morality, the nature of good and evil, and other popular themes that mankind has pondered for centuries.

Both shows have a similar tone set in dystopian futures.

The events are running in a world of advanced technology, criminals are psychopath , both shows focus more on the moral side of society and the meaning of justice rather than revealing the criminal, Main character has an obsession of revenge

Two anime exploring complex philosophical themes, free will and suicide as it's ultimate expression in particular. Both use a criminal investigation by the protagonist, who works for international law enforcement, as a framing device. Both take place in both Japan and other countries (even continents) due to the international nature of the mystery conspiracy. Both have an antagonist who may or may not be supernatural and has similar powers over the mind of other people, yet neither anime has a respective tag. Both have a similar, half-open ending and conclusion to their subject matter. Babylon is more heavy handed and story driven, where Harmony is mainly a character drama and dialog savy.

Both series are based on suspense novels and feature solving a murder mystery in a dialogue heavy format.

I can say that Psycho pass season 2 was more gory and twisted than their first season. Babylon is more investigative, but shows less blood and explosions.

You can expect some mind fucks, dark atmosphere of the world, killings and themes in life for mature people. Good vs Bad, technology and spiritual themes

Political intrigue with bombastic (and often hilarious) plot twists. This is spectacle anime at its finest.

Both are politic dramas that focus on the world's response to supernatural events. The introduction of a supernatural/sci-fi person in the world presents new ideology and debates with politicians. The philosophies for the ideal societies in either show are very speculative and based on the writer's opinion rather than believable concepts rooted in reality.

Both shows have a similar air of being about detectives who are running behind a very dangerous evil entity.

Both are engaging thriller animes.

Babylon is an anime I stumbled upon by pure chance one night, looking for something interesting to watch this season. The premise seemed interesting enough, with a mystery that needed to be solved. What I would soon find out that the genre tag for Thriller is indeed very well placed. Right from the first episode, you are met with cliffhanger after cliffhanger, causing you to want to watch more and more. For a similar thriller with darker undertones, I highly recommend Babylon.
