COMMENTS FOR SHIROBAKO
These anime are different but similar.
Shirobako is about the creation of anime.
Bakuman is about the creation of manga.
They both are great shows that deal with the creation of material that we enjoy so much, and watching them gave me an appreciation for all the hard work that goes into making the manga/anime that we enjoy so much. I think that they both are a must see for every anime/manga fan.
Shirobako, otherwise known as "Anime - The Anime" and Bakuman, "Manga - The Anime".
Both animes are excellent and give great insight into how both anime and manga respectively are produced. Both stories also follow a group of friends from a young age into adulthood as they chase their dreams. Bakuman also has a romance subplot however, which is worked in beautifully.
If you liked one be sure to give the other a try, you won't regret it

COMMENTS FOR SPACE BROTHERS
Setting a goal and following that journey to achieve it. Bakuman and Uchuu Kyoudai builds on the foundation of this idea and transform it into a story. In their perspective stories, the main characters have a dream to become something they always wanted to be. Throughout the course of the story, they face challenges and discover just what it takes to fulfill that dream. There is a decent amount of comedy, drama, and realism in both series. The main character relationship have strong dynamics that are often explored throughout both series. Recommended for anyone seeking a realistic show about character development and story emphasis with great writing.

COMMENTS FOR MONTHLY GIRLS' NOZAKI-KUN
Both series feature a heavy emphasis on Mangaka (Manga Authors) and the aspects and processes required in the Manga industry. Both are very enjoyable for those who are curious about the process, or even wanting to create a Manga of their own (though, neither teach you how to do so, but shed light on how it works)
Nozaki-Kun is a bit more Romance and Comedy based, but Bakuman has a good share of romance and comedy as well. Both have the protagonist working towards a love interest, and that aspect of the plot comes in to add a break form the focus on creating Manga.
Bakuman is a much longer series, and does have a heavier Manga emphasis, but each series is very similar in their ballence of Romance and Comedy within each plot.

COMMENTS FOR DEATH NOTE
Both are based on original works by Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata.
If you've seen either one of them, and not the other, then this other is a must. They're absolutely different: from plot to soundtrack. The one thing they have in common is the fact that this two series are animations of the two and only colaborations (this far) by authors Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata. They're both quite good and unique in their own way. In 'Bakuman', you're pulled into the very essence of anime: its original form, manga. On the other side, 'Death Note' has an incredible element of suspense that will draw you into the next chapter without the will to stop.

COMMENTS FOR CHIHAYAFURU
Now you may be thinking what similarities do a card game anime and an anime about making manga have in common?
The answer is pretty simple, in both anime the MCs are aiming to achieve a goal that someone important gave them. However they do not solely experience success, but failures are involved as well.
The general mood in Bakuman and Chihayafuru is pretty relatable while having moments of suspense.
Furthermore the main theme in both anime is the 'From Zero to Hero' process. Starting from scratch, only by working hard you can achieve your dreams.

COMMENTS FOR NODAME CANTABILE
Both are directed by Ken'ichi Kasai and animated by JCStaff. Each show is centered around two characters and their pursuit of an artform (in Nodame it is playing classical music, in Bakuman it is writing manga.)
There is some character similarity also. Nizuma Eiji and Nodame are "instinct" types who work on feelings, while Chiaki and the Bakuman duo are considered to be "calculated" types who plan out their works as perfectionists.
Both series present alot of detail in the creative process, with a classic relaxed slice of life pacing. Romance is also present, though it is not the focus.

COMMENTS FOR COMIC GIRLS
here was barely any manga-theme related recommendations.
Similarities: about manga
While Comic Girls is about a fledgling manga artist and all the moe that ensures, this is about a pair of guys making it through the manga industry. I felt Bakuman was in-depth in the inner workings of the manga industry, while the main lead in Comic Girls was trying to learn how to get better in her drawings.

COMMENTS FOR SEKAI ICHI HATSUKOI - WORLD'S GREATEST FIRST LOVE
They are about creating manga. While in Bakuman the main protagonists are teen mangakas in a shounen magazine, in Sekaiichi they're 20-year-old editors of a shoujo one.
Both show the pression of having to guide a mangaka/accepting the opinion of editors, the stress that it comes with both jobs and having to meet a short deadline.
In Bakuman romance is underlying so as to center in the the manga they create and the rivalry between the mangakas while in Sekaiichi is more focused in the romantic relationships between the characters.
COMMENTS FOR GENSHIKEN
Both series deals with a group of friends who live their everyday lives as normally as possibly while making the most of it. The activities they do are related to otaku and are realistic.
Both series has a touch of romance involving the main female protagonist as well as the main male protagonist. The story in both series focuses mostly on the lifestyles of the characters and what they do.
Both series has a lighthearted backgrounds and shares a similar feeling.

COMMENTS FOR BABY STEPS
Bakuman is one of my favorite series, and as I started watching Baby Steps, I got very similar vibes from it as I did from Bakuman. One of the major similarities is the minor romance with the characters following their dreams. The largest similarity in my opinion is the "One step forward Two steps Back" approach to both series. Whenever the characters seem to have a run of luck, it is followed by more bad luck. This is what makes these series so amazing to watch. If you like Bakuman, I HIGHLY recommend Baby Steps.

COMMENTS FOR FIGHTING SPIRIT
I was quite surprise to see that these two anime weren't the top recommendations of each other, as they're practically the same thing but with a different focus (boxing/manga).
Both anime follow the same story structure about youth growing larger in their desired fields and striving for their goals/dreams. Also, both anime utilise a very similar romance between the heroine and protagonist, that has this charming and heartwarming feel to it. Onward, both anime have similar comedy, that drives a viewer away from the drama to have them chuckling/laughing at the silly things the character do. Continuing, both anime have their serious moments, when the protagonists are depressed and broken down. Where in the end they overcome their obstacles to awake to the cheers and applauds of their accomplishments.
To end, both anime are heartwarming stories, about a journey through youth, that has its fun and charming times, to later become serious and inspiring. If you loved either one then you'll definitely love the other.

COMMENTS FOR SAEKANO: HOW TO RAISE A BORING GIRLFRIEND
Bakuman, this is very first and only anime that came to my mind after completing watching Saenai~. Both have "slightly" different genres associated with, however each is about creating one particular thing(of many) that connects otaku's or casual people. Each of us in order to achieve dream(s) needs a lot of improvement. So do MCs in these series. Saenai~ & Bakuman reflect that part of industry that is unknown to - I dare to say - all of us(ok most) who watches / reads any form of animation. Whilst Saenai~ seems less realistic and shows one of the most important things creator(s) face(s) during their work in funny with less drama and serious elements, then Bakuman gives you a closer/deeper look into this. Stories that come along with main plot(this "thing" development) in both animes, don't slow down the pace.
Along with these two animes I highly recommend Shirobako you to watch. After that you will have major grasp of situation about creating "those" things from all points of view even if it might be simplified in order to show real life in animes(I believe 90% of those situations in these 3 titles are true and worth knowing).

COMMENTS FOR BECK: MONGOLIAN CHOP SQUAD
Both anime have the same vibe and theme.
Rivalry, friendship, struggling, love, disbands.
Like Ryuuske for Koyuki, Takagi is the one, who pushed Mashiro to become mangaka.
No one knows them from beggining(Underground gigs and oneshots), but soon they both skyrocketed to the top of popularity (Greatful Sound and serialization on WSJ respectively).
In both anime they've reached their goal.

COMMENTS FOR SMILE DOWN THE RUNWAY
Both stories are about two high school students working together in unconventional industries to pursue their dreams. Initially the pairs receive opportunities into their industries pretty quickly, but the main bulk of each of the stories are about the characters working their way up to the top. Dreams can seem impossible, but both Runway and Bakuman. show that you should never give up on them.
