COMMENTS FOR GABRIEL DROPOUT
Say hello to Umaru-chan's lesser little angel looalike, Gab-chan!!
Seriously, these two are similar in so many ways. Lazy, game addicted, natural genius, a shut in and they even look alike!
Gabriel dropout may not be as popular and interesting as Himouto but the actual story itself is quite enjoyable. You get to watch as the 4 characters live their daily lives, goofing around, pranking, and just trying to live out their lives as humans. The characters are likeable, the story is funny, and the music is lovable. If you like Himouto style comedy, gabriel dropout shouldn't be far behind in your preference. Give it a try! :)

COMMENTS FOR WATAMOTE: NO MATTER HOW I LOOK AT IT, IT'S YOU GUYS' FAULT I'M UNPOPULAR!
This series is very alike, thinking about the fact that the protagonists both are otakus, shut-ins, love games and anime, have a best friend with huge boobs (sorry I just had to say it), live with an older brother, Short stories with no plot,Little to no charcter development but I have to warn you, The protagonist of Himouto! Umaru-chan is actually the exact opposite of Tomoko. Umaru is the cliche protgonist who is always charismatic, attractive and lucky. Umaru looks like a model, has so many friends, admired anywhere she goes (both her looks and personality), confident, sociable (when not being lazy) with perfect grades no matter how little she tries. Long story short, I recommend this series for those who would've liked watamote if tomoko (and her story) were more cheerful and who cannot relate to watamote because they have more or less of a social life.
COMMENTS FOR OREIMO
Basically about a perfect imouto on the outside but is in reality a shut-in. It follows the daily lives of them trying to hide their identity. OreImo however does have a side plot, with a much wider cast. Both of them has a storyline and connection, yes, even Umaru-chan has it. Also the imoutos are annoying in both series. Finally, there's a sub genre of romance although again, in OreImo it completely takes over.
OreImo has better storyline but Umaru-Chan has better comedy and SoL elements.

COMMENTS FOR LUCKY☆STAR
The main heroines of both series are appalling otakus (the target audience) cleverly disguised as little girls, and the humour is based mostly on anime & video games references. If you liked Lucky Star you'll going to love Himouto, as it's story does not revolve around mundane events like eating chocolate coronets and sometimes even manages to be funny in a way thai is not related to references and overused tropes.

COMMENTS FOR GUGURE! KOKKURI-SAN
They are rather similar in more ways than one.
First of all, Umaru and Kohina are very much alike in that they are chibi in the majority of their shows. Umaru shrinks into her chibi version when she gets home and basically wants to laze around all day and watch anime. Kohina is chibi when she is showing indifference and no emotions whatsoever (like a "doll"). They both love food. (Umaru loves snacks, Kohina has a obsession for cup noodles)
Another aspect is Umaru's brother and Kokkuri-San. They both care for their little sister/?haunting victim?, and often do things for them. Buying food, cleaning, daily household chores.
They are both Slice of Life.
Their contrast is that, with Umaru, it's more or less a slice of life anime, and no doubt is exceptional, in my opinion, while Gugure! Kokkuri-San has more things that are supernatural/fantasy based.
I enjoyed both of them quite a bit, and love Umaru and Kohina to death! >o<)/

COMMENTS FOR SQUID GIRL
Both are fun comedies with rather unique characters. Each episode is structured like multiple misadventures following humorous events. If you enjoyed the randomness of daily life of Ika Musume, you'll like the adorably cute Umaru-chan.

COMMENTS FOR LOVE IS LIKE A COCKTAIL
Both mc's are normal... until they drink/get home. In Osake, the mc gets extremely drunk when having even a bit of alcohol and doesn't want anyone to know. In Umaru-chan, the mc becomes a complete 100% otaku when she takes a step indoors and relies on her brother to do everything for her.
COMMENTS FOR POP TEAM EPIC
Actually,Poputepipikku doesn't have any similar anime, it's the God of anime, but they both share references to other animes, music, manga, videogames, etc. And, in fact, both are really funny, you will laugh with them.

COMMENTS FOR MISS KOBAYASHI'S DRAGON MAID
Both of them have extremely nonsensical plot with crazy characters with special abilities that ruin another characters life attempt to live peacefully. They both have a great theme of family and togetherness, and share a similar style of humor and storytelling.

COMMENTS FOR
Both are slice of life, comedy and school animes that focuses on the female main character. And both female characters are completely different when they're in school and when they're home, they play the perfect student in the school while actually they're selfish and lazy at home.
However, Himouto! Umaru-chan has little to no romance and drama, while Kareshi Kanojo no Jijou is focused on a romance relationship and gets really dramatic eventually.

COMMENTS FOR PLACE TO PLACE
Who doesn't love these cute moments? Himouto! Umaru-chan and Acchi Kocchi both have these comedic, light-hearted and fluffy moments. Even the main characters are cute and unique. They really have their own personality and identity. It's a definite cure after a stressed day! Acchi Kocchi leans more on the fluffy romance while Himouto! Umaru-chan is more on family/friends kind of fluffiness. I swear, you can't get enough of the fluffiness + the comedy!

COMMENTS FOR INUYASHIKI: LAST HERO
- some hard-working man gets annoyed by some anime/manga-loving kid
- man doesn't hate the annoying kid, because of his very friendly attitude
- while Himouto! Umaru-chan is a comedy-focussed slice of life, Inuyashiki is a gory action-sci-fi anime

COMMENTS FOR WELCOME TO THE N.H.K.
Both have similar tones, both MC's are lazy, useless otakus. Both are also delusional and blame all their problems on something else. Both also have creepy friends that are only in it for their bodies.
