COMMENTS FOR HANEBADO!
both are sport anime with MC reluctant to play the sport one a newbie and the other a veteran. both anime have lots of family drama and some team drama.
differences Star Align is a more ensemble cast with multiple stories line for almost everyone on the team. Hanebado mainly focuses on one or two characters.
Note in Star Align one character is non-binary if that a problem for you it may be a skip

COMMENTS FOR TSUKIGAKIREI
Seeing this show go under the radar for many people reminds me a lot of how when Tsuki ga Kirei was airing, it seemed like not many people were talking about it, but it was one of the best character-driven stories of the season. Both shows are understated in art style, dialogue, and soundtrack, and they have realistic and dynamic characters similar to actual people you'd see in high school. If you liked that the mellow storytelling and atmosphere of Tsuki ga Kirei, you'll probably like Hoshiai no Sora.

COMMENTS FOR BABY STEPS
Both based around the sport tennis, although Stars Align revolves around soft tennis. The similarities are undeniable, although Stars Align is a much 'darker' show, providing a striking, but satisfying contrast between it and Baby Steps. No matter the order you watch these two shows in, you will find points of comparison within these two anime, centering around the sport of tennis.
Stars Align has more depth to it and less focus on the sport itself. Although Baby Steps does have some Slice of Life elements, particularly in the last few episodes, it is still far below Stars Align in that aspect.
The area which these two shows share the most is teamwork, and the idea of working together to achieve something incredible. In Baby Steps, even though they are playing singles, the idea of wanting others to succeed is extremely apparent and prevalent in the story. With every game comes the cheers and hopes of the MCs club members. Stars Align focuses of doubles games so evidently the 'team spirit' of the story is used throughout. However, both shows portray, emotively, a story of teamwork and its strength.
First and foremost both these shows are sports anime. however the subtle focuses on slice of life elements, and the fact that they share a common sport has lead to this recommendation.

COMMENTS FOR BIG WINDUP!
They both talk about psychology disorders in sports. Hoshiahi no Sora is using that just for drama, as it seems, but if you liked the 1st part of it, you should totally give Oofuri a chance (and not the opposite way, though :(). Oofuri is more of a coming of age psychological anime that shows it through baseball. It's not just a subplot like in Hoshiai no Sora, but one of the main ideas. Basically, Oofuri is what Hoshiai no Sora could've been, but isn't.
COMMENTS FOR BATTERY
Battery and Stars Align are coming-of-age character dramas that use their respective sports as a backdrop for their stories. Both are single-cour and deal with middle school boys and their family issues. They also use a somewhat muted color-palette to set the mood and aesthetic as well as the soundtracks that are above average. Give Battery a try if Stars Align really caught your interest.
COMMENTS FOR HAIKYU!!
Both are about a sports team that had a rich history of being dominate but has now fallen into disarray. Both Hiakyuu and Hoshiai no Sora have their story enhanced by the music that is used in both anime. If you love a sports anime where not only is the team working to get better but a bond is growing, Hoshiai no Sora is a anime for you.

COMMENTS FOR RUN WITH THE WIND
A hopeless group of young men trying to reach a difficult goal? Yes, both series have it. If you like sports anime with well written slice of life elements to it then both are for you.
The differences are that Kaze students are in college while Hoshiai takes place in middle school. Also Running versus Soft tennis.
Yet they share the similar vibe in character interactions and difficult backgrounds.

COMMENTS FOR O MAIDENS IN YOUR SAVAGE SEASON
Both shows are dedicated to the difficulties of youth social interaction and make a lot of social comments about it. In particular, both anime have LGBTQ arc and a major character who hides low self-esteem behind a feigned cynicism. If you are looking for a smart anime that is not afraid to talk about real teenage experiences and be socially relevant, then both titles can be one of the best choices for you.
The key difference is that Araburu is dedicated to girls and the problems of the first romantic experience, while Hoshiai no Sora talks about boys and their self-affirmation in the adult world.
COMMENTS FOR CLANNAD
Family issues. Clannad and Stars Align both follow an MC with family issues, who ends up joining a club with no real motivation, only to go forth on an experience they won't forget.
MCs Tomoya and Maki are both unmotivated with nothing to do in their life, in meeting their respective peers, namely, Nagisa with the drama club and Touma with the soft tennis, they both go out of their way to help these clubs grow, whilst fighting off their family issues at home.
Both anime are good dramas about how normal school clubs and the community within so can help out someone's life in the long run.

COMMENTS FOR AHIRU NO SORA
Both anime revolve around sport, with a main character that is very skilful in the sport they play in. However, the sport clubs of each anime (basketball club - ahiru no sora, soft tennis club - hoshiai no sora) are on the verge of an official discontinuance.
Characters in both anime have a deep history, as well as an emotional atmospheres present being present.

COMMENTS FOR MARCH COMES IN LIKE A LION
This is real similar to March Comes In Like a Lion. The way the sport gets really intense when are odds are against them, you can tell how closely they are. If you liked Hoshiai no Sora, you will love 3-gatsu no Lion.

COMMENTS FOR FRUITS BASKET
Both shows deal with the idea of how everyone has some sort of troubled past no matter how normal they seem on the inside. In both cases, it also follows a protagonist whose influence acts as support and strength to help the rest of the cast get through their problems
COMMENTS FOR ERASED
Both deal with complex familial situations.
Erased focuses on the main girl and her physical abuse, while Hoshiai no Sora covers a range of different family scenarios also including abuse from a young age.
If you enjoyed Erased, but felt it was lacking due to the poor execution of time travelling/fantasy, then I highly recommend Hoshiai no Sora as it is more grounded in reality.

COMMENTS FOR SARAZANMAI
Sarazanmai and Hoshiai no Sora tell character stories full of dark moments underneath a colorful, light exterior conflict. Sarazanmai has the adventures of the main trio discovering soccer and fighting as cute kappas, Hoshiai no Sora claims to be a story about a fallen-off soft-tennis team recovering their status and strength. But the real story is underneath these exteriors, driven by character backstories and outside traumas they need to overcome.

COMMENTS FOR TSURUNE: KAZEMAI KOUKOU KYUUDOUBU
both are school sport club anime one centering around an archery club Kyudo and the other soft tennis. both have MCs that are struggle in Sora it family and financial will in Tsurune in the ability and will to even join the club. both have good supporting characters although Sora cover more of it secondary characters. both have clubs struggle in Tsurune the school is just forming or reforming the club and in Sora the club is facing disbandment over lack of performance due to budget limitations
Difference Sora the club activate is in a lot of ways secondary to the characters main and secondary family lives it seem that almost every character as some problem including one that gay or non-binary although it only come up three or four times but if that a turn off maybe it no the anime for you.
in Tsurune although there is some family/personal drama from the main and some secondary character it mostly center around Kyudo the MC target panic, personality conflict, and general club stuff so if you like the ensemble cast of Sora this may not be the anime for you.
