COMMENTS FOR HAIKYU!!
If you like either 'Haikyuu!!' or 'Kaze ga Tsuyoku Fuiteiru', I can almost guarantee you'll enjoy the other. Both are sports anime which have a good balance between the actual sport and character building, as well as humour and angst. Furthermore, both anime have very similar styles of animation if you like either of their aesthetics.
The more you watch of either series, the more attached you'll grow to the characters, which have a wide variety of personalities, some of which you'll find similar between the two anime (e.g. Kageyama and Kakeru). In both anime there is a mix of naturally gifted/genius/seasoned characters and others who are rookies, all of whom grow as a team to try and achieve their goal, which others believe to be unrealistic for the teams.
Basically, if you want a series which will make you laugh and cry with a team as they struggle to achieve their goal whilst forging friendships and rivalries, I highly recommend both series. It doesn't matter if you're not too interested in either volleyball or running, both these anime will get you worked up and you'll find yourself crossing fingers during the matches/races.
Ride With The Wind was sadly pretty underrated by the anime community. For years, sports anime have been filled with casts who are high school students or younger. Run With The Wind has a cast comprised of people in college. So then why should you watch this anime if you've watched Haikyuu? Other than the obvious factors as being animated by the same studio, Production I.G and having the same composer, Yuki Hayashi. The 2 are similar in that they are both well-crafted and well-animated shows with decent plot. Seriously, just watch it.

COMMENTS FOR TSURUNE: KAZEMAI KOUKOU KYUUDOUBU
Both are showcasing high school boys who do a specific sport (running and Japanese archery) and their struggles to form bonds with their teammates. They both have young coaches and teammates who have injured themselves previously. Some of the characters are similar too. Both animes are warm-hearted and slower paced than your usual sports anime, with no "extra special techniques" with fancy names and colorful moves.

COMMENTS FOR FREE! - IWATOBI SWIM CLUB
Two sports anime focused on a group of guys trying to meet certain goals. Run With The Wind is certainly a bit more serious, but both have a great feeling of success when their characters succeed. They are enjoyable to watch for similar reasons, mainly good character chemistry and growth, as well the sports themselves being well animated and fun to watch.

COMMENTS FOR PRINCE OF STRIDE: ALTERNATIVE
Same theme, sports. Both are running club. Both got some drama in it, comedy, and great animation. In my opinion, both are quite similiar, how the story goes. MC on one anime and the other side character on the other anime got some problem in their past and ends up ruining their sports passion, and ends up rising and comeback to the sports life.

COMMENTS FOR MY HERO ACADEMIA
Both shows have a similar energy. and while Kaze ga Tsuyoku Fuiteiru (KTF) is a sports anime and Boku no Hero Academia (BHA) is a superpower anime, they both are strong shounen anime. Characters that aren't where they want to be build themselves up.
The enjoyment level, the mindset of the characters, and the drive to succeed are common themes while both anime's do it completely separate ways. If you enjoyed the type of character development in KTF, you'll certainly enjoy the adventure and characters in BHA.

COMMENTS FOR WELCOME TO THE BALLROOM
These are two sports anime about fairly different sports but done in a somewhat similar way. They both lead up to a big event, and spend most of their time building up characters that have never done the sport before. In both of them, the protagonists (Run With the Wind is basically all protagonists) have never really done the sport before, and so we see them starting from zero and working their way up. Both are very motivating and fun to watch. I will say Run With the Wind is much better if you want to just watch people getting better at something, but Ballroom is better if you are looking for more drama.

COMMENTS FOR BIG WINDUP!
The most common rec for Kazetsuyo seems to be Haikyuu but despite their shared studio and many creative staff, most similarities are superficial. At its core, Kazetsuyo is a character study through sports and the only other such anime, in my opinion, is Oofuri.
Although one is about college students (age ranging from 19 to 25) doing long-distance running and the other about high school baseball, the 2 are similarly dedicated in their characterisation. All characters and their interpersonal relationships are written exceptionally well, resulting in a cast of multi-dimensional and relatable characters.
While sport is used as an instrument of storytelling and characterisation, it's not taken lightly either. Both explain the technical aspects necessary to appreciate the sport without being overwhelming. Oofuri, in particular, provides a lot of detail about baseball.
There's also a distinct lack of 'hype' in both anime. That is to say, neither the story nor its presentation contrive to induce tension as sports series (especially shounen) often do. Rather, it naturally develops so that the viewer experiences a much more realistic sense of anticipation and excitement.
Lastly, both are wonderfully motivational. This may be true for most anime of the genre, but Kazetsuyo and Oofuri are somewhat unique in the grounded way they encourage and inspire at a personal level. (Which, once again, comes down to their excellent characterisation.)
I hope more people watch these 2 fantastic anime, as they're quite underrated.

COMMENTS FOR STARS ALIGN
A hopeless group of young men trying to reach a difficult goal? Yes, both series have it. If you like sports anime with well written slice of life elements to it then both are for you.
The differences are that Kaze students are in college while Hoshiai takes place in middle school. Also Running versus Soft tennis.
Yet they share the similar vibe in character interactions and difficult backgrounds.

COMMENTS FOR HUNTER X HUNTER
As mentioned, very similar in the way both series really show the determination of the main cast to overcome the huge almost impossible task infront of them. Whilst they are no where close length wise, whilst watching Kaze ga Tsuyoku Fuiteiru, i was reminded of the hardships Gon and Killua went through to become better Hunters, which a lot of the time were the best parts of the show for me.

COMMENTS FOR THE PET GIRL OF SAKURASOU
Okay.. I know they're quite different in some ways.. but Kaze ga Tsuyoku Fuiteiru reminds me of Sakurasou no Pet na Kanojo a lot. Both of the shows transpire the life of students inside a single dormitory. Also, Mashiro Shiina and Kakeru Kurahara are both prodigy of a certain field, also they both have social issues. I think these shows portrait the importance of team work and the significance of unity between members of a certain group.

COMMENTS FOR CHIHAYAFURU
They have a great balance of believable characterization and enthralling sports scenes. Themes in both of these shows include finding one's passion, being on a team, overcoming obstacles and following one's dreams.
COMMENTS FOR NANA
Nana and Kaze ga Tsuyoku Fuiteiru (Kaze) are similar in their character development and their drama. The characters are given vivid, realistic backstories. And while Nana is about getting to the top of music/showbiz, Kaze is about being in the top 10 to win the biggest running competition in Japan.
Nana is a Josei (for women) and Kaze is more is more for boys. But it's refreshing how the characters are older. In Nana, they're out of school and Kaze is college. The drama is very heavy in both and the scenes are pretty realistic as well as the actions and motivations of the characters.
There is a lot of development that is done in both shows and they have such a wistful feeling at the end of the later episodes.
COMMENTS FOR SLAM DUNK
If you like characters and their development in Run with the Wind you may like characters in Slam Dunk too. They have a lot in common (passion, encouragement, perseverance, etc.) Also, Slam Dunk is quite fun and it has a similar realistic feel in contrast with for example Kuroko no Basket.
So, just try it, you won't regret it. It's fun, quite realistic and it has great characters. And if you get to the end of the anime, you can just finish the story with manga, anime is completely based on it.
