COMMENTS FOR NATSUME'S BOOK OF FRIENDS
Both Mahoutsukai no Yome an Natsume Yuujinchou have a protagonist that can see extraordinary things. They both suffer a great deal in their childhood because of their ability to see what normal people can't. Both anime tell the tale of their protagonists' lives and how they deal with the world that is beyond the ordinary human eyes.

COMMENTS FOR MADE IN ABYSS
While the Made in Abyss has a fairly different type of plot it is another fantastic world building anime which I would highly suggest for anyone with an innate curiosity. While Magnus Bride presents a new world in the form of magic and magical creatures, Made in Abyss presents a new world in the form of a giant hole/cave in the ground which presents its own set of environments and creatures.

COMMENTS FOR SNOW WHITE WITH THE RED HAIR
Both are about red-haired girls finding their place in society, with one being a mage and the other being a court herbalist. While their personalities certainly differ, both girls eventually become driven at being the best of their kind. I enjoyed the fantasy setting and the development of romance equally, though Shirayuki-hime definitely is more romance-driven while Mahoutsukai focuses more on the lore and worldbuilding.

COMMENTS FOR SPICE AND WOLF
I cant believe this hasn't been recommended yet. The fantasy genre, the feel, even the music are quite similar. Not to mention romance as a subplot in both.

COMMENTS FOR KAKURIYO: BED & BREAKFAST FOR SPIRITS
- Special Mary Sue with super special power to see spirits, very kind very quiet very used to being alone
- Sudden marriage to mean looking supernatural entity, but haha it's okay because they can be really good looking haha
- Male MCs are really creepy and say unacceptable thing but haha it's okay because they're good looking and aren't human haha
- Make lots of other supernatural friends along the way
KnY protag is more plucky than MnY as a result of a more healthy upbringing, MnY protag is extremely emo. Both have tragic pasts enhanced by cringeworthy writing.
KnY is set in Japan with Japanese supernatural creatures as the main supporting cast, and MnY is set mostly in the UK with a hotchpotch of Western supernatural creatures.
COMMENTS FOR MUSHI-SHI
Both series carry an air of normalcy in a mystical situation. They present day to day life in the dealings of the supernatural. They both have vastly different premises: Mushishi being about taking care of the spirits that haunt certain places, MahoYome being about an eldritch creature taking on a human as an apprentice and wife. However, despite their differences, the way both anime present themselves is relaxed and calm.
What you are looking for here is essentially a fascinating way to explore the various creatures they interact with based on Wicca and Mushi for MahoYome and Mushishi respectfully. So while there are quite a bit of contrast between the two, exploration of these topics out of curiosity is the most compelling reason to be drawn toward these anime. If you are looking for an experience like that, both are identical in that regard.

COMMENTS FOR YONA OF THE DAWN
Both are neither your typical shoujo anime (based on an ongoing manga) with a redheaded leads. In both Akatsuki no Yona and Mahoutsukai our heroines are both gifted in a fantasy world, who learn and begin to form their own definitions of family and love. Both heroines share an underlying romance with tall, dark, deep-voiced males, as well as beautiful coming-of-age stories. They are also both REALLY underrated!

COMMENTS FOR IRODUKU: THE WORLD IN COLORS
Mahoutsukai no Yome and Irozuku Sekai no Ashita kara have a similar vibe when watching both shows. They share a similar vibrant color palette and have a very whimsical way of putting great attention to detail to the background and foreground art in each scene. The setting in both shows are similar, a modern day society where magic is an accepted thing in society and mages live amongst normal people. If you're looking for a world that you can get absorbed into, I would recommend both shows.

COMMENTS FOR KAMISAMA KISS
The female protagonists are both "choosen" ones. Both male protagonists have had a dark phase in their past life and have done something regretful. They both have trouble to understand their "feelings". Both anime deal with spirits, gods and other supernatural stuff, but also a lot of enemies they encounter on their way.

COMMENTS FOR DEATH PARADE
While the setting could not have been more different, the two main characters are identical.

COMMENTS FOR ASCENDANCE OF A BOOKWORM PART 2
They are so similar. I kept feeling like I was watching a spinoff of Ancient Magus' Bride. MCs are both sickly and have overwhelming magic power, both thrown into crazy situations, very similar settings and magic use is fairly subtle.
You really have to give an episode or two a watch to see what makes them so strikingly parallel because it's hard to explain.

COMMENTS FOR LAND OF THE LUSTROUS (TV)
a fantasy world that is mysterious at first. but you learn more about the characters as the story unfolds. it deals with a lot of serious and dark themes such as the meaning of life mortality, what gives us meaning, sacrifice, death, trust and so on. its the type of show you can watch multiple times and you can still learn something new, now that you have knowledge of some things you did not before. the story only gets better and better. also the animation <3
COMMENTS FOR XXXHOLIC
Both Chise and Watanuki are plagued by their ability to see spirits/monsters. They both encounter a wise and powerful sorcerer, Elias and Yuuko who teach them magic and how to deal with otherworldly creatures. Chise and Watanuki are exceedingly kind people but lack a sense of self-worth and will give to the point of harming themselves - something they must learn to overcome if they want to understand what it means to love those important to them.
COMMENTS FOR HELLSING
Both are similar stories about powerful monsters taking on human apprentices. Hellsing has more physical violence, but Ancient Magus' Bride has more emotional violence.
COMMENTS FOR ARTE
Both are about young women trying to find their way in life, being under an apprenticeship, and learning life lessons.
Chise Hatori is only 15, but she has lost far more than most. With neither family nor hope, it seems all doors are closed to her. Through, a chance encounter the rusted wheels of fate begin to turn. In her darkest hour, a mysterious magus appears before Chise, offering a chance she unable to turn down.
: Setting: Rural England
: Chise Hatori: Pursuit of being a Magus or other words a Sorcerous.
In Arte, the main character Arte yearns to make a living for herself by painting/drawing portraits of clients. She strongly devotes herself to finding someone who'll accept her as an apprentice, even though she's a girl. Faced with discrimination in the pursuit of her dream will she achieve it or will her dream ultimately go unfulfilled?
COMMENTS FOR ERIN
The feel/pace of those 2 series is really similar to me.

COMMENTS FOR BLACK BUTLER
Both delve into the supernatural aspects of London, England. While one is about a boy who summons a demon in exchange for his soul, and the other is about a mage who buys a human to become his wife/apprentice; they both have very common themes. Sebastian and Elias seem to be very similar characters as neither is human and nor do either understand human emotions. They both try to help their human companions throughout their journeys to accomplish their goals.

COMMENTS FOR BUNNY DROP
these are different in a lot of ways, but they both focus on kinda similar relationships between a younger girl and a parental figure
COMMENTS FOR INUYASHA
15 year old main girl. Deals with demons and magical powers. The main villians kind of have a similar backstory and they're both crazy. Of course both have Romance develop between the MCs over the course of the series. Both do some world jumping (different eras in Inuyashas case and literally different worlds/dimensions in Ancient Magus Bride's case) Differences are that Inuyasha is more action focused and a lot longer, and older of course. Also Kagome does not have a depressing backstory like Chise.
