[Top 10] Best Zombie Anime List – My Recommendations
So, out of all the “it’s the end of the world as we know it” concepts out there, I think the zombie apocalypse is the most popular, right next to a virus that kills everyone. Sometimes, the two concepts can even be the same one if you’re brave enough – a virus that kills people and turns them into zombies!
In this list, we’re going to be looking at 10 zombie anime that I think you should check out, and what they’re all about. Do note that I may have seen some of the anime on this list, but I may not have seen all of them. And with that, let’s begin!

COMMENTS FOR TOKYO GHOUL
Yeah, I saw this one too.
Sooooo, this one sorta depends on how relaxed your definition of “zombie” is. Because I mean, these guys technically are zombies (they eat flesh and all), but, y’know.
Japan lives in a world where humans are not the top of the food chain. That place belongs to ghouls – creatures that look just like us, but there’s something special. They feed off of human flesh. The main character, Ken Kaneki, is going on a date with the beautiful Rize. But in a cruel twist of fate, it turns out she’s a ghoul.
As she tries to feed on him, she’s killed in a sudden accident. Kaneki survives, but has Rize’s organs transplanted into him, effectively turning him into a ghoul himself.

COMMENTS FOR SEOUL STATION
So, this movie’s actually a prequel to the live action movie Train to Busan, despite Seoul Station itself being an animated movie. It takes place a day before the events of the other movie. In this movie, a man searches desperately for his runaway daughter as all of Korea seemed to collapse. The dead is rising again, and anyone who’s bit can turn in a minute flat.
I actually watched Train to Busan just yesterday, and I’d been waiting to see Seoul Station for a while, without even knowing that this is a prequel to it.

COMMENTS FOR SANKAREA: UNDYING LOVE
Ever since he was a kid, Chihiro Furuya has always wanted to have a zombie as a girlfriend. (I have many questions, but you know what, one man’s trash is another’s treasure.) But when his cat gets run over, Chihiro tries to make a resurrection potion, using the hydrangeas from Rea Sanka’s garden.
Rea ends up drinking the potion, and when she’s in an accident, she herself becomes a zombie.

COMMENTS FOR THE EMPIRE OF CORPSES
It’s the 19th century. Humans have learned enough necromancy to reanimate corpses. Though, these corpses have no thoughts of their own, so they’re regulated to manual labor. Though the body is still there, what’s lost is the soul – the lifeforce that makes a person… well, a person.
However, Doctor Victor Frankenstein is the first person said to have reanimated a corpse with a soul. Sadly, though, he’s disappeared shortly after his revolutionary work.

COMMENTS FOR ZOMBIE-LOAN
Michiru Kita knows when someone’s about to die. She sees this with the “ring of death” around their necks. The darker the ring is, the closer they get to dying. However, when she sees two boys with completely black rings, she learns that they’re already dead, and they’ve been kept alive through Zombie Loans. The price is, however, that they must hunt down and kill other zombies.

COMMENTS FOR SUNDAY WITHOUT GOD
God is gone. He’s abandoned Earth. Humans can no longer procreate, but at the same time, they can no longer die, either. The dead walk amongst the living, and the only way they can truly be put to rest is by a special burial only gravekeepers can do.
That was the last thing God gave before he left earth: the gravekeepers. Ai is the gravekeeper of her village, when one day, her father comes and kills everyone in the village. Now that she has nowhere left to go, Ai follows her father around on strange adventures, learning more about the world that God had left.

Oh, I actually saw this one!
Everything just happened so suddenly: the dead rose, and Japan was thrown into chaos. The main character, Takashi Kimuro, has to kill his best friend after he’s been bitten, and runs off with his girlfriend Rei Miyamoto. They barely escape their school, which has already been infected, only to realize that everything’s already gone down the tube.
Now, they band together with a couple other students from their school (even the school nurse!) and have to survive the forces of the undead. As someone who’s seen it, I can safely say there’s a lot of fanservice here, but the gore and violence makes up for it.
